Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu for his exemplary leadership and transformative tenure as Statistician-General.
His vision, dedication, and reforms modernized the Bureau, strengthening data systems and enhancing evidence-based
governance in Kano State. His legacy includes the successful computation of the State GDP (2019–2023), CPI reporting,
and landmark surveys such as the Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index and Malaria Cross-Sectional Survey.
As he transitions to serve as the Pioneer Commissioner for the Ministry of Livestock Development,
we honor his lasting impact and commitment to statistical excellence.

Dr. Aliyu also championed far-reaching institutional reforms and capacity building within the Bureau and across the State Statistical System. He established the Kano State Consultative Committee on Statistics (KSCCS) to enhance coordination,
he spearheaded the Agricultural Sample Census Digest, the Health Facility Census, the Annual School Census in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Tertiary Institutions Census, and a pioneering Census of Graveyards, Jum'aat Mosques,
and Churches—all of which strengthened spatial and demographic datasets for planning and research. One of his most remarkable achievements was the computation of the Kano State Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2019–2023, completed in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics,
providing critical insight into the structure and performance of the State's In the area of infrastructure, equipment, and ICT enhancement, Dr. Aliyu revolutionized the Bureau's operational capacity. He procured 88 Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) tablets to digitize field data collection,
purchased over 40 new computers and laptops, and installed a cloud-based data storage server to ensure data security and accessibility. The introduction of Starlink high-speed internet service enabled seamless online collaboration, while the renovation of offices and conference halls, installation of CCTV cameras and solar-powered streetlights,
and procurement of an operational Toyota Hilux vehicle improved the Bureau's functionality, safety, and logistics for field operations. These interventions modernized the Bureau's data infrastructure and elevated its digital and analytical capabilities to international standards.
Recognizing the importance of human motivation, Dr. Aliyu made notable strides in staff welfare and administration. He approved an increase in the monthly allowance for casual staff from ₦10,000 to ₦20,000, ensured uninterrupted power supply for data servers through consistent diesel provision, and introduced a culture of discipline, accountability,
and performance-based recognition. His leadership fostered teamwork, efficiency, and a renewed sense of purpose among staff members, making the Bureau a more vibrant and professional institution.
Under his tenure, the Bureau produced and disseminated several landmark publications, including the Kano State Statistical Yearbook (2023 Edition), the Digest of the Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index Report (2024), the Malaria Cross-Sectional Survey Report (2024), the Poverty Index Survey Report (2024), Monthly CPI and Inflation Reports,
the Agricultural Sample Census Digest, the Gas Watch Report (2025), the State GDP Summary Report (2019–2023), and the State Workforce Statistics Report (2024). These outputs have not only strengthened the data ecosystem in Kano but also served as vital references for decision-makers, researchers, and development partners.
Through these outstanding achievements, Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu has left an indelible mark on the Kano State Bureau of Statistics. His vision, dedication, and innovative reforms have transformed the Bureau into a modern, autonomous, and data-driven institution aligned with global best practices. As he transitions to a higher calling as the Pioneer Commissioner for the Ministry of Livestock Development,
the Bureau and the entire statistical community of Kano State express profound gratitude for his tireless service, mentorship, and legacy of excellence.
